WHAT IS KINUSAIGA?
Kinusaiga is a Japanese textile art traditionally associated with repurposing beautiful pieces of kimono silk.
Rather than sewing the pieces together, fabric is placed over sections of a design and the edges are carefully tucked into grooves.
The result is a wonderfully tactile form of textile artwork somewhere between patchwork and mosaic.
At Box Clever Crafts, we call it Fabric Mosaic.
NO SEWING REQUIRED
You don't need to know how to sew, quilt or embroider.
Simply transfer your chosen pattern onto suitable craft foam, create the grooves and gradually cover each section with fabric.
The clear shapes in the Lotus Collection have been designed specifically with this technique in mind.
