Crafting with children is one of life's great pleasures. Mosaic art is genuinely brilliant for families because it's structured enough to be manageable but open-ended enough to be creative. Here are our best tips for a successful session.
Choose the right kit for the age
Our kids' mosaic kits are designed specifically for younger makers — larger tile pieces, bold designs, and completely safe with no sharp edges or tools. For children under five, stick to very large pieces and simple designs. For ages seven and up, more detailed work becomes manageable.
Set up for success
Cover your work surface thoroughly with an old tablecloth or newspaper. Set out all materials before you begin. Work in a space where mess isn't catastrophic. For a more guided setting, our mosaic workshops offer family sessions where all setup and cleanup is handled for you.
Break it into stages
Tile placement and grouting are best done on separate days. Children often reach their concentration limit after the tile placement stage. Splitting over two sessions also means the adhesive has plenty of time to dry, giving a much better result.
Celebrate the result
